What is the role and responsibility of an ITQ Internal Verifier?

The role of an ITQ Internal Verifier is a fundamental one within an ITQ Centre.

Essentially, the role covers three responsibilities:

1. Verifying assessment
2. Developing and supporting assessors
3. Managing quality of the ITQ delivery

An ITQ Internal Verifier confirms that the assessment judgements made by the ITQ assessors are correct and to the National Occupational Standards. This is the core part of an Internal Verifier's position.

Internal Verifiers also need to monitor and support their assessor team and provide relevant opportunities for Continuing Professional Development, as well as supporting them if issues occur throughout the ITQ assessment process.

There is also a responsibility for the ITQ Internal Verifier to manage the quality assurance process and to ensure systems are in place in order to sample evidence and decisions and to maintain consistent and reliable assessment.

Standardisation meetings are held by an ITQ Internal Verifier in order to provide opportunities for ITQ assessors to meet and consider others' decisions. What's more, the Internal Verifier must liaise regularly with the External Verifier and the Awarding Body.

Why not listen to an ITQ Internal Verifier talk about an aspect of the IV role?

Are you a verifier who is now taking on the role of ITQ verification, or an assessor who is now in the position to work towards the V1 in order to internally verifier ITQ in your centre? What do you think your role is?

So, let's consider what an ITQ Internal Verifier needs to have an understanding of:

Making sense of documentation

Holistic assessment and how technologies can help

Induction of ITQ candidates

Managing and supporting the ITQ Assessor Team

ITQ portfolios and electronic evidence

Getting systems into place
