What is ITQ?
ITQ has been designed by employers to meet the needs of today’s businesses. It is a nationally-recognised programme that takes into account all of your existing IT skills. You may already have ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), or one of the CLAIT qualifications or Microsoft Office Specialist. These can count towards ITQ.
By achieving ITQ you will be looking to acquire IT skills so that you can do your job more effectively and productively. There is a wide choice of Units to choose from - the Office based applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, email and the Internet to wider issues such as IT Security and IT Maintenance. In addition you can achieve a Multimedia Unit or Using Video or even accredit your skills setting up and using a mobile phone.

What to do to get started
- Find a local training centre who can answer your questions and get you started.
- Think about the skills you need to do a better job at work. Perhaps ask your boss or line manager what IT skills he/she needs from you.
- Collect any IT certificates you have done in the past so that you can present to the training centre. They will have to check if they're up to date and still relevant.
- Think about any IT skills gaps you might need to fill and identify how much study and practice time you have.
