ITQ Funding (England)
Funding can be a complex issue. It is important to note that ITQ is funded in more or less exactly the same way, and from the same pots, as any other qualification. Indeed as a Level 2 NVQ it is able to access funds such as Train to Gain which may be closed to other qualifications. Its priority within the e-skills UK Sector Skills Agreement and Sector Qualification Strategy is also reflected in the priority which the LSC gives to its funding.
We believe that employers will be prepared to pay the full cost of well delivered, well tailored IT training – since it should have a demonstrable effect on their productivity. However some public funding may be available, both from LSC and other sources (such as European Social Fund and Regional Development Agencies).
Actual funding from the LSC will always be dependent on a combination of local, regional and national priorities. Public funds will increasingly be focussed either where they can leverage significant further employer funding, or where the learners or their employers are at a significant social or economic disadvantage.
NB. From a funding perspective it is worth noting that using APA for any unit will mean that the whole of the ITQ will be funded at the lower rate (NBR3) when using FE funding. Train To Gain offers a bit more flexibility.
Train to Gain
Providers have been identified in each region to deliver Train to Gain funded ITQ programmes to businesses that have not engaged with training in the past.
Skills brokers have been appointed to work with local businesses and provide free, impartial, independent and comprehensive advice.
